Hi, it would be nice if next year you consider zip through hoodies or track suit zip through tops, I think you miss out on a lot of revenue, I buy the crows track top every year, I would love to buy a bay one, but you do not have them for sale, only alternative is to buy a Richmond one which I would prefer not to, also with season drawing to a end with finals series not far away have you thought about a membership special for remainder of year, Richmond have a good one at moment buy your 2018 membership & get the remainder of 2017 membership in-cluded in price
CEO
Hi Steve,
Thanks for your email and suggestions.
Merchandise is challenging port- folio at SANFL level due to the relatively low level of demand. AFL teams have a marked advantage by way of sales volume and supplier support. We will review the range at season end. The other point regards membership is a good one, but as you can see on the ladder we do require at least another win to be sure of finals participation.

I wish to advise the sad passing of Life Member Alfred "Charlie" Swansson on 20 July 2017 at the age of 83. A trainer at the club for many years & became an honorary life member in 1973. We would love to honour him with his name on one of the pickets on the boundary fence, would that be possible?
CEO
Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for advising us, please accept and relay the Club’s condolences on Alfred’s passing. Volunteers who provide so much unconditional support of the Club are really valued and respected.
Regards honouring him, we would be delighted to assist – please contact the Club.

Hi, it appears he traditional logo the jumping tiger is falling by the way side and being replaced by the boring GFC logo shield. Is there any reason for such and will there be consultation with the members about what they prefer?
CEO
Dear Steve,
We have answered this previously but provide the following answer to your query. The Club utilises two logo’s at the moment – the leaping tiger and GFC shield as you refer to it. Whilst many clubs use the leaping tiger both in SA and interstate, it will continue to be our primary brand. The ‘shield’ was introduced 2 years ago and represents another form of branding and promotion being initially used by the playing group – requests from members have resulted in its further use for promotional purposes. There are several versions of the shield format which are used extensively by many sporting clubs across the world inclusive of the famed Barcelona FC of course. Your point is well made, and we will continue to use the leaping Tiger in the Budget, official letterhead and website.

Whilst at the footy 3 june ats Adelaide I was sitting on other side of oval to the stands. Am concerned at language of a male tiger supporter i was listening t from across the oval directed at umpire. I dont no whether he was in cheer sqaud group of tigers or outside of bar . But was wondering where security was. I'm a tiger supporter & thought it was appalling.
CEO
Hi Gayle
Thanks for your feedback.
There is no excuse for this sort of behavior, especially give the family friendly image promoted at local footy. In future, don’t hesitate to convey your concerns to a Club official to enable us to follow up for you. Unfortunately, security can’t be in all places at the same time. Good natured banter is one thing, abuse entirely another.

Do you know that on 26th August 2017 will mark the 50th anniversary of the League debut of Graham Cornes. I think it would be nice for the Club to commemorate this by doing something. Unfortunately we are playing at Richmond Oval, so maybe something the week before at home against North.
There were a lot of Glenelg greats who debut that year also including Neil Kerley, Rex Voigt, Peter Marker, Kerry Hamilton & Wayne Phillis
CEO
Hi Grant,
Thanks for the notice. Now that you have brought it to our attention, the Club will most certainly recognise it. What a year it must have been for Glenelg fans to see so many of those players involved at the Club. In fact 9 players debuted that season starting with Neil Kerley – player number 545 to have represented the Club through to Graham at player number 553. The Club had a sound year finishing 4th.

Consensus rules in Football Clubs and the overwhelming majority of members are very happy with the match day event as is evidenced by attendances to date. It is also an SANFL requirement to retain an announcer at all home games.

Will we get more merchandise items like other clubs like more accessories and more items like Sturt for example or is what we have, the only available options for the future?

At this stage we are sticking to a core range of GFC merchandise. This may expand into the future, however for 2017 we will be stocking the basics.

Really enjoying 'Tiger TV' - Symo's interviews are very entertaining with the past greats of the club. Now living in Brisbane, it keeps me in touch with this club that was a huge part of my footy career. P.S Congrats to Scrippa on being elected back onto the board. Has the members been asked about the use of the Glenelg "GFC" shield logo?...... I notice that it is now used in the budget and on the polo shirts. It's a poor rip off of the of the Melbourne logo and I think there is no way is should be used in place of the leaping Tiger logo.

I quite often go to the Club on a Thursday Night - member's night.
I am noticing fewer and fewer people in the bar/bistro.
When quizzed, the usual people there (or not there now) are terribly disappointed with the standard of the meals.
The selection of beer is also an issue for me and my mates.
The place iS NOT 'Club Member' friendly - it is now just a POKIE venue.
Extremely disappointing .. I understand why CLUB people - the CORE & HEART of the TIGER CROWD are dropping off.
They are treated like second class citizens.
Administration
Dear Mark,
Thanks for your comments.
Bistro - Meal numbers on Thursdays and in fact throughout the week are excellent. Last year we served over 49,000 bistro meals with the current year trending to exceed that figure. Thursdays are very popular with the most recent one recording 199 bistro meals for the day. This level of trade is historically a very high figure.
Beer Range - All SANFL Clubs are subject to a centralised sponsorship with Lion Nathan, which is very significant in the prevailing economic times. Their range of product is quite extensive and satisfies most patrons. In addition, bar trade across the State has felt the impact of drink driving and responsible service of alcohol regulations – quite rightly of course
Pokies - Glenelg’s gaming returns are amongst the lowest in the SANFL with relatively few numbers of persons playing the machines, which places us at a massive disadvantage when it comes to being able to invest in the core business of football. In fact GFC is one of the few Clubs where members can still attend the home base of the Club outside match days – Eagles, Norwood, North Adelaide and Sturt all operate bistro/gaming venues off site. Whether we like it or not, gaming is the ‘elephant in the room’ and is here to stay, it has also created a massive inequity in the SANFL. In our case we operate in one of the most challenging postcodes for hospitality in SA
Members - Contrary to your comments, we value and respect our membership base. We commit to providing the best communication service we can regards all aspects of the Club. The majority of our membership base just want us to become a winning Club on-field because it is ‘their club’. Membership numbers continue to be sound with match day attendances still amongst the best in the SANFL which is a credit to those who support us

We respect your right to criticise but trust you understand that for most people in the area we are just another hospitality venue in the City of Holdfast Bay precinct competing against very significant hotel groups – no easy task. Our key point of difference is that all generated funds stay with the Club and allow us to play football.
Ryan
Hi team, any consideration to rewarding members who jump on board each year eg commerative badge 10, year member, 20 year member etc? Have seen it done at other clubs and works well.
Membership
Dear Ryan,
Agree with your suggestion 100%. In fact we had and will consider the matter further and advise our membership once decided. GFC is a membership based entity which must respect and develop strategies to recognise sustained support. So much of our membership base provides unconditional support of the Club – the very best kind of support.

CEO
Dear Mattee,

Thanks for your contact, we don’t appear to have your member contact details but would like to address the matters you raise:

Financials - The 2016 result of a $14,000 profit clearly represents a significant improvement compared to the losses of 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Board Elections - We are a membership based entity, as such members have the right to elect Board Members in accordance with the Constitution. All financial members have the right to nominate for the Board with their nomination supported by two other financial members. The notice calling for board nominations is normally issued around November each year.

The election last night has resulted in a new Board appointment in Brian Veale. He joins Justin Scripps who was returned for a two year term.

If you refer to the Annual Report, you will note that we have a very clear Mission Statement and consequent Visions for what it will look like for our Club when we achieve same. Trust this helps

Glenelg V Crows at Bordertown?
Given the crowds these games attract wouldn't it be better to have this at the bay oval for the increased revenue and so that members who has bought a season pass and Crows supporters who aren't members that can get in for free can come and spend money on food and beverages?
Glenelg Club
Hi Corey,
Glenelg has been the beneficiary of a very productive South East Zone. Our interest in staging a game within our zone forms part of a strategy to ‘leave a footprint’ in terms of assisting the process of future proofing community football. The South East one is very extensive, as such our strategy will focus on in and out of season strategies. We do have duty of care for game of football
In season we propose playing the Crows at Bordertown on Sunday July 30. The fixture will involve local football content to assist with community interest and workshops for local clubs across a range of subjects – coaching, high performance strategies, organisational structures, finance and commercial operations. Glenelg Football Club can assist its zone Clubs in a very practical manner. In terms of financial returns, the Club is well satisfied with the budget forecasts for the fixture. It must be said that attendances at Crows matches in the SANFL have not reached the original predictions. Your point regards membership tickets is well made. We will provide compensation or a promotional offer for those financial members who wish to receive same for accessing one less game at Glenelg for the year.
Trust this helps.
Michael
Was it Glenelg or Adelaide's idea to take the Crows v Glenelg game at Bordertown?
I think it is a good idea as it will generate a better atmosphere than playing them at a Metropolitan venue.
CEO
Dear Michael,

The submission to the SANFL was entirely Glenelg’s as it is our home game, of course we did so with the support of the Crows. In doing so we considered three major points:

1. Glenelg activity in our Zone
We have a duty of care for the game of football throughout our zone, to nurture it with the aim of it becoming stronger. The AFL conducts what some perceive to be ‘press the flesh’ games in many country areas, however these games, whilst great on the day itself, rarely leave a lasting footprint. Glenelg’s concept going forward is to help future proofing community football in the South East. Rather than conducting a series of clinics which have questionable outcomes, we plan to make two major visits per year:

Pre-season commencing in 2017
- Play a practice match against the best from the south east on ‘City v Bush’ model in the Mount Gambier vicinity. Combine the fixture with either a netball or women’s football game as female sport is so critical to regional communities.

In season game commencing 2017
- Play an annual in season match at Bordertown or Keith each year with a local senior game as the curtain raiser, this ensures regional involvement on the day itself. Again, plan to involve a netball or women’s football game. A key reason to involve the Crows relates to our playing them twice at ‘home’ each year – moving the game to a major region improves the chances of a significant attendance.

Underpinning both games, we will co-ordinate a range of workshops including our Coaches, High Performance Manager, CEO, Commercial Operations and Finance Manager. Organisational structures and coaching are the key portfolios to future proof local sport. Glenelg can provide the working templates to assist our country Clubs.

2.Financial Impact
Glenelg cannot sacrifice income from a home match at Gliderol Stadium. On known figures that would not be the case, especially given the uncertainty of big crowds at two Crows home games in each season. A regional fixture provides great interest and has been met with high expectation.

3. Membership Reaction
As a membership based entity, we value feedback. The proposal to date has been supported by those who have contacted the Club.

Final Decision:
The SANFL, Regional Leagues and Crows support the concept. The Club will advise a final decision based on the above mentioned information.

CEO
Hi Steven, merchandise sales at SANFL level have not been consistent over a number of years, especially given the growth and reach of the AFL. AFL Clubs enjoy tremendous volume and sponsorship support, as such they can offer better prices and availability. We are reviewing the portfolio prior to next season and will advise our members in due course. Thanks

Hi, if the AFL allow, a suggestion, every SANFL Club be permitted to sell the “50/50 HOME” raffle at each Power/Crows game at Adelaide, to help the clubs raise funds.
Each club will sell their tickets and as they currently do. This would not impede the AFL as they do not need to fund raise. Therefore a person if they purchase a ticket from each club has a potential to win some very big dollars. This would require dedicated raffle sellers each week (I would nominate to do a couple of games during the year)
CEO
Thanks for the suggestion Max, it really has worked at Glenelg Home games this year. We will raise it with the SANFL.
David McFeat
When the club is urging its members and supporters to dig deep to Save the Tigers why is the Gala Aucton being held at the Intercontinental instead of at the GFC, costing the club money we don't have???
CEO
Dear David,
Thanks for your email.
By way of explanation we would like to provide the following:
• The majority of SANFL Clubs now take their major function offsite. The key reason is that it broadens the appeal of event with many not so interested to just going to football club as opposed to an established function venue. Historically Glenelg Football Club used to do so before using the function centre. We decided it was time for a change this year as interest had declined in recent years. In terms of cost, the ticket price covered all costs – which would have been the same scenario if it had been held in the Club.
• Function trade actually works against our core business of bistro gaming operations. Every time a major function is held, car parking becomes a major problem for non-function patrons.
• The good news from last night was that it was an outstanding success. Numbers increased by around 80 on last year, the auction was really well supported and the feedback from guests was really positive. Contrary to your comment regards ‘costing the Club money we don’t have’, it was indeed the opposite as the Club achieved its best outcome for a many, many years. It was a celebration of the Club itself.
Please be assured that we are acutely aware of our financial position and would not compromise that in any way. We are arguably one of the most lean Clubs in the SANFL now in terms of personnel and football spend.
Hope this explanation helps.

Really disappointed with the effort put in by the whole team on Sunday. Probably one of the worst games I have seen you play. You can and do play a lot better than that and I have belief that you are on the right track. Chins up boys. We are behind you.

Thanks.. The boys are disappointed with Monday's effort and we know our effort and intensity needs to be better if we want to be competitive. Sunday can't come around quick enough and we're looking forward to bouncing back with a positive performance against Sturt.

Hi team, just a suggestion. Would it be worth having one home match a year marketed as a guernsey round. e.g. Get all fans to rock up in a guernsey to support the boys? Would also increase sales of guernseys to fans who might want an upgrade? Go bays!

Sure marketing will be keen to try it, especially with the possibility of offering a ‘trade in’ of your old guernsey.

You need a no thrills basic membership for $50.00, 2014 I joined up as a member again after a long absence, it cost $50.00, I can not get to games as I work weekends, but still wanted to show my support, now your membership has gone up to $75.00, that's the price of AFL membership, I think this has contributed to membership numbers dropping off over last few years, worth a thought I suggest.
CEO
Hi Steve,
We think you have made some excellent points on membership. The matter was raised at the AGM by a member who just wanted a ‘no frills’ membership which provided footy access, a badge and a vote. Your thoughts are along similar lines, support the Club without merchandise packs and gimmicks. In essence you want to join the Club because the Tigers are your Club and you support us as opposed to receiving a wide range of benefits in order to join. We will provide this option for members going forward.

Would you please up grade the lighting on to the score board and the time clock. I stand over by the cricket club and even my 20 year old son can find it hard to see. Also a wind sock in Glenelg colours would be nice and not a small one. you know where we stand. It cant be that hard. Thanks.
Administration
Dear Ian
We agree with you and can advise as follows:
Time Clock: An upgrade is long, long overdue. We have a new model awaiting Council approval
Scoreboard: If we are scheduled for more night games, the matter will be addressed.
Windsock: Apparently there was one in existence previously which was never replaced after being damaged. Quotes will be obtained for a new one.

Fix match day catering. The club is in financial difficulty but has poor food and drink options on game day, meaning spectators don't spend money.
CEO
Hi Robert
Thanks for your email.
We review match day catering every year, especially in comparison with other SANFL grounds. Most concentrate on traditional footy lines such as pies, pasties, hot chips and BBQ lines. In terms of beverages, all grounds with the exception of Coopers Stadium, have contract arrangements with Lion and Coke. Within the club itself we also offer all day food options. It is true that we had a couple of issues with equipment, but that has been rectified. For the record, game day catering has recorded consistent figures for the last few years. Going forward, happy for you to give us a call with your suggestions.

Steve
How are you going to ensure the inequalities and ridiculous amount of byes etc in the "fixture" are not repeated by the SANFL?
CEO
Dear Steve,
Really surprised it has taken this long for a member to voice their concern. We agree with you 100%. Four byes in an 18 game season has major failings and please be assured that we raised our concerns with the SANFL before and after the program was released. The program educates fans not to come because it is not regular. From the players perspective they have to train on up to 20 occasions and not have a game to play. Momentum is everything in sport.
The program itself threw up so many abnormalities, but to mention a couple which impact on us:
- Glenelg playing 5 weeks in a row against sides which are coming off a bye
- Glenelg playing 7 of 9 scheduled home games from late May to July, hope it doesn’t rain too much !!
For the record, our Club’s position is that the season should be 18 games with 1 bye – would consider a second bye for the State game. If the Grand Final is at Adelaide Oval after the AFL preliminary finals, we simply work back to the season start regardless of whether that coincides with the AFL opening game. We have our own unique competition and its integrity must be preserved. The SANFL is charged with providing all Clubs with a fair and equitable draw.

2 totally unrelated things, first can you put the player numbers next to the players on the weekly team sheet?
Secondly, not sure what's happening at snouts bar but 3 visits at different games I had a pie out of a microwave, pastries 'sold out' halfway through the first quarter and then a charcoal Pasty. Maybe I'm a sucker for punishment and I know that people are working hard but surely there's something that can be done.
Administration
Hi Tim
Thanks for your email.
1. Player numbers: yes we will do so.
2. Snouts Bar Product: your comments are very constructive and reasonable, we need to do better and will discuss your feedback with those who work in that section.

Match against Adelaide the team played contested hard running football but then died off significantly in last quarter & didnt come out wth intent. Love the way u all r going about yr football thi this year. Much more entertaining
GFC Captain
Thanks Gayle, we're certainly taking positives out of the way we've played at times this year. We appreciate the support and we'll keep working towards four quarter efforts that will hopefully see us put a few more wins on the board.

Hi, is there a place on the website that keeps a running tally of membership numbers?
Membership
Hi William,
There sure is. If you follow this link, you will find it: http://glenelgfc.com.au/membership
Thanks.
Garry
Great win last Sunday and the boys played some exciting footy. Just a small negative: Due to advancing age, decided to take up the offer of a reserved seat in the Edward Rix Stand - all good, except the PA system was so loud, we couldn't even converse during the breaks. I know young people like lots of loud noise, but it's mostly older people in the stand, and I'm aware of others who would like the volume turned down (at least for the music), or maybe the speaker could be relocated?
Administration
Dear Garry
We are pleased you enjoyed being able to access the “Members Grandstand’ as a members benefit. The point you make regards noise is quite valid and we have since asked our supplier to investigate shifting the actual speakers to the front roof of the grandstand itself.

Very poor not to have at least two BBQs at home games.
Also selling beer in cups is a backward step and is there a clash with selling and serving beer at the same place and time as kids buying lollies from the Nth shop.
Come on club lift your game the food at the home games over the last few years become a joke.
Administration
Dear Bill,
Thanks for your comments.
Catering at SANFL grounds varies quite dramatically. Whilst you may not be happy with it, the catering at Glenelg Oval compares quite favourably to many SANFL grounds. The variety of product is remarkably similar. In terms of increased outlets, how do you propose we service them ? Volunteers are an endangered species these days at SANFL level. In fact only one canteen is serviced by GFC volunteers and we really appreciate them for doing so– the tea and coffee station, all others are paid personnel. Food service and Liquor licensing regulations also impact on what can or can’t be done – that said we will do our best to cater for crowds at the bay this year.
The beer issue, we agree with your comments and will only be offering cans from the booths in future – it was a trial following on from the cricket final.
Hope you enjoyed the football.
John Johnson
Bring back the cans in Snout's Bar. The beer lines run far too slowly. I had to queue for 5 minutes during a term to get a drink on Sunday. Never queued for more than a minute before. Then when I got to the front of the queue the Super Dry line needed changing. Seriously you will sell far more product and give a lot less people stress if you switch back to cans.
Communications & Membership
Hi Jack,
Thank you for your feedback. Apologies that you had to queue in the line, we will be reverting back to cans effective at our next home game.
Thanks.

great win yesterday guys just wondering I went into the club about a month ago and purchased my membership for the year and asked if I could also purchase 2 Glenelg training tank tops the ones the boys were wearing at pre season training and got told I wasn't allowed to have them is this true or can I somehow get them?
CEO
Hi Corey,
Unfortunately our club training singlets are only available for our playing group. We do however have training polo tops which are available to purchase for $40.
Thanks.
John
Why is the tipping contest not on the kiosks?
CEO
Hi John,
This season we opted to run our tipping competition through the football club rather than the bistro which meant we could take advantage of our new website.
Thanks

I am writing to express my disappointment at the change to the game from Friday night to Sunday afternoon this week. Having been a die hard Tigers fan for over 50 years and a member since 2001 I have always enjoyed attending the early home games when there is still a chance that the season may produce some success. I am committed to attending my son's engagement party this Sunday and obviously can't attend the match. The interesting thing is that the date for the engagement party was chosen with the knowledge that certain people, including me, had no commitments that day. I understand that to some extent the change was forced on the club but it would be nice if the supporters were considered when these decisions were made. So I guess I miss the game and an opportunity to support the football club.
CEO
Dear Peter,
Thanks for the email. You are correct, the decision was entirely out of our hands with you and many others now missing a game. The GFC oval lease only commences on April 1 each year with cricket having exclusive use until then. Even with the Shield Final finishing on Wednesday, there was insufficient time to ready the facility for football - especially the playing surface. The Club has already made its position clear in terms of the SANFL Season - it should start later to avoid these clashes. The upside of the cricket fixture was that the Club did generate significant catering trade.
Regards
Glenn

Just to let you know you have a fan base in Washington DC (me: any others out there?). Former Bay resident remember first going down to Bay Oval in 1967, first season of Neil Kerley (we beat North Melbourne in a trial game that year and expectations were high)! Sorry to hear about the club's financial plight. Have signed up as interstate member. Good luck on and off the field this year.
CEO
Hi Richard,
Great to hear from you.
The Club is facing its challenge front on. We are working with our key partners to address the pent up debt incurred years ago. Membership response has been very encouraging and we have some major initiatives to announce as the season goes on. Your support from afar is really appreciated – hope your email flushes out a few more Tiger fans in Washington DC

Heads up, go hard and four quarters of footy will put the premiers in their place. Every confidence in you and the boys to get the win this week at home. The hard yards of pre season are behind you and the group. Time to make the Bay oval the tigers fortress once again... Go 🐯 Tigers 😎
GFC Captain
Thanks for the support, the boys are definitely keen to make up for last week and Sunday can't come around quick enough. We'll certainly be having a crack and hopefully we can win in front of a big crowd Sunday.

Hi Glenn, just catching up on Tiger TV, and just wanted to say that I am so thankful and inspired by all the players, coaches and everyone behind the scenes, dedication to my football team. I think it's so important to acknowledge hard work and I'd love it if you could pass this on for me. Thank you and I am looking so forward to the 2016 season. The boys look so fit and excited which is fantastic to see. Bring it on.
CEO
Hi Chantal,
The coaches and players have done everything possible to ensure we improve this year. There is little doubting our physical improvement and the new players have settled in seamlessly both on and off the field. It is the team now which will control the emotions of the Club through their results
Thanks, Glenn

My family and I try to eat at the Glenelg Club at least once a month but consistently have problems on these occasions. The last 2 times I have had to line up for over 20 minutes to order. Kids meals come out and are finished long before entrees are served and adult meals are often not served at the same time (I don't mean 30 seconds apart but on one occasion 12 minutes). We like coming to the club as the kids can run around and to support GFC but unfortunately we have had a run of bad service for a number of reasons. The quality of the food has varied from very good to ordinary at best and it has left us feeling we don't know what to expect when we come in for a meal, at times there doesn't appear to be any attention to detail. This isn't written as a free kick but to try to bring attention to an area that I believe is in need of improvement for the benefit of GFC and the members.
Glenelg Club
Hi Richard,
Thanks for sending through your concerns, it is always good for the club to receive feedback good and bad. Your email has been shared and discussed with all Managers and staff. From this we will work together continuously to improve our meals, and customer service. These two things are paramount for the club to be able to move forward. Thanks again Richard.

Any chance of having a current copy of the clubs constitution on the web site.
CEO
Hi Steve,
The constitution is undergoing a review to ensure it reflects the sporting and business operations of 2016. Much of the Constitution dates back to 1990 with amendments presented and approved by the Members a couple of times since. Once the review has been completed it will be presented to our membership for consideration.
Thanks, Glenn

A few comments.
- Good effort by marketing dept to encourage memberships- ( I will be renewing mine soon) constant hits by a numbers of mediums.
- I went to book a group of 15 for breakfast last weekend and was told no longer available for Sat morning. From this I deduce that you have done some analysis and determined that it is not profitable to be open for this time- tough decisions to reduce costs is just what we need as increasing revenue is tough- well done.
- Perused the new web site tonight- again I say a job well done- can you turn it into a revenue generator I think is a challenge however. It looks fresh and innovative which is great.
- A thought- this year and last when Richmond have played in Adelaide Glenelg has had a bye. Why not wait to do the SANFL draw until after AFL draw. Program Glenelg to play at The Bay around Richmond playing in Adelaide. Take this year- Power play Rich Fri 1 July- why not have Glenelg play Port Magpies on Saturday at The Bay. Promote to the Richmond FC members and via their web site. Free entry for Richmond members. May or may not work but at least a bit innovative and if it does then we can start an annual tradition- sturt do same with Carlton, Westies Essendon etc. I do understand you do not control the draw but maybe can influence via a CEO forum or the like.
- Whilst on the draw- why doesn't the SANFL start this weekend? We are all itching for football- AFL has a gap- SANFL fills the gap.
- revenue and sponsorship- I am not close enough to know how well we are doing in this space but do we measure against our competitors- how are we going?
- stability- on and off the field- this to me is what we need. If more changes are required then please do them quickly and then settle down. It feels like the Bays have had too many off field politics at play- need to communicate message with some vision.
- re field below- I don't need "mate", but maybe I am a minority.
- all in all I think things are looking positive- I welcome some experience at the helm. I do not expect a response to all of this download but thought I would share some thoughts. I am a CEO of a Financial Planning firm and have been involved at Exec level of publicly listed Bank and other Finance firms whilst previously a National Sales and Marketing Manager for a National Retail Brand- based in Melbourne (with a lot of Richmond mates). Do you have sub committees or other arenas for external input to aspects of the club.
- my main message- I think you and your team are on the right track- on field will be what it will be but I am a firm believer that if we can get the off field going well then the results on field will come. Good luck to you and your team.

CEO
Dear Stephen,
Really appreciate your thoughts.
Our starting point was to recognise and accept our position as a fact. The next priority was to address our organisational structures and in turn financial performance. Strong Clubs excel in these port folios which allows football to flourish. We welcome your offer of external input and shall be in touch.
The footy challenge starts this Friday.

The Club’s bad financial position has been reported in the media, is there really a threat that the Club could fold ?
CEO
The reported figures accurately reflect the Club’s position, Sustained losses over the last three years demand that we address our trading results as financial stability is the cornerstone of a strong Club. Change is not palatable but inevitable in our situation. We have implemented several cost saving measures already, changed some organisational structures to better suit our business and will monitor every aspect of trade. The Glenelg Club operates in one of the most competitive hospitality postcodes in the State which presents a challenge. Debt is the major issue as we have been unable make capital payments in recent years. We will advise members of our plans to address this critical issue shortly. Long answer to your question, short answer is that any business which does not address its financial position is at risk.

Oh we're from Tiger land
A fighting fury
We're from Tiger land
In any weather you'll see us with a grin
Risking head and shin
If we're behind then never mind
We'll fight and fight and win
For we're from Tiger land.
We never weaken till the final siren's gone
Like the Tiger of old
We're strong and we're bold
For we're from Tiger (yellow and black)
We're from Tiger land.
