UNVIELING THE WALL OF FAME
The Glenelg Football Club is proud to announce its “Wall of Fame” will be in place ready for this Friday night’s game here at Gliderol Stadium against Central District.
The Wall of Fame is an honour board recognising every player who has played league football for the Glenelg Football Club since its introduction into the SANFL league competition in 1921. It has been placed on the northern wall inside the main changerooms.
Our club historian Peter Cornwall spent countless hours putting the list together. The list has been made available for review and consultation via the Club website and via email to our full database over the past few months. The list is now complete and the Wall of Fame is ready for unveiling.
At the pre-game President’s function on Friday night (starting at 5.30pm) Peter Cornwall and Graham Cornes will be interviewed to discuss the formation of the list and its significance to the Club. They will also touch on why the decision was made to have the Wall of Fame in the player changerooms.
All past players are invited to view the Wall of Fame after the league match this Friday night. This invitation will be extended to all home games this season, so as many past players as possible can get back to the Club to see it for the first time, as well as watch the current players battle it out on the field.
We encourage recipients of this email to let as many people know about the Wall of Fame so as many past players and their families become aware of its existence and hopefully visit the Club to see what we believe is a significant piece of our history.
