MATT BODE CUP SEE UNDER 13'S PAGE
Country v City Under 16 and Under 18 Games
On Sunday March 15th the Glenelg Under16’s and 18’s played trial games with sides from the City up against lads originating from the Country.
The Bordertown Oval was in pristine condition and thanks to the Bordertown Football Club for their hospitality. Firstly we saw a very competitive match in the Under 16’s where the City boys were on top in the first half but the Country team held on well and won the final quarter with the finals scores being City 11-9 to Country 8-6

Country: Declan Carmody 3, Jordan Bell, Darcy Fogarty, Elliot Jaeschke, Mitch Gordon, Will Gould all 1
City were well served by Tynan Carney, Alex martini, Jack Plenty, Oscar Lovelock, and Cameron Buchanan whereas the Country’s best were Sam Bates, Will Gould, Brad McCarthy, Tobin Cox, Declan Carmody and Darcy Fogarty.
The City also led early but the Country did hang on strongly in the second half. At the main break City led 8-6 to 3-0 with final scores being 15-13 to 9-2.
In a match where players were used in a number of positions those that stood out for City were Lachie Hosie (6 goals) , Josh Koster, Justin Evans, Corey May (early), and Jay Boyle. The Country players who showed good signs were Jake Stafford, Todd Lockwood, Brad Mitchell, Sam Stafford and Scott Merrett.
This weekend we have trials against Central Districts at Playford Alive Oval. The Under 61’s start at 11.40am and the Under 18’s at 2.10pm

Our Under 13's is for boys that turn either 12 or 13 in 2015.
UNDER 18 STATE ACADEMYThe Glenelg Football Club would like to congratulate 7 of our players who have been selected in an initial State Academy Squad that will be involved in a camp in December (13th & 14th) staying overnight at St Marks College. Another week of training will occur in February finishing off with an Internal trial game. Following this program a squad will be chosen to then train for the National Under 18 Championships. Players will be added and subtracted depending on form in the 2015 season.

Tim has relocated from Pt MacDonnell and is currently training with our Senior Squad. Matt who is also training with the Seniors is from North Gambier and attends St Peters College. Mason is from Millicent and will be attending school in Adelaide in 2015. Sam Walker (South Gambier) and Jonty (PHOS Camden/Immanuel College) were both members of the victorious State Under 16 winning team in 2014. Justin represented the State Under 16s in 2013 and is from Brighton FC, whereas Sam Stafford comes from a Basketball background but also played in North Gambier’s premiership Under 17 team this year.
