Under 16 Semi Final v Sturt
Unfortunately our Under 16’s were convincingly beaten in their semi final on Friday night. Although kicking the first goal and having another couple of early opportunities, Sturt responded with 4 goals. The first quarter was quite free flowing with Sturt leading 6-2 to 3-0 at the break. Going to the end aided by a slight breeze we were outplayed by a hungrier and competitive team. Being outscored 5 goals to 1 left the half time deficit at 45 points.
In the third quarter we were much more competitive scoring 1-4 and working hard to keep Sturt to 3 points. At the last change we had some hope but we seemed to run out of legs and were quickly put out of the game.
Final Scores: Glenelg 5-7 lost to Sturt 15-14
Goals: Hamish Nitschke 2, Luke Walsh 1, Jack Yates 1, Corey May 1
Best: Jake McCreery, Griff Bennett, Josh Koster, Justin Evans, Ryan Hosking, Jack Yates.
Well done to the group for finishing third and showing some good signs for progression through the ranks at Glenelg. We had 5 Under 15’s playing in this match compared to only 1 in the opposition which is promising for 2014.
Thanks to coach Darren Tull assisted by Chris Groom and Andrew Cousins for their work with the lads.
