Madisyn makes her way to 50 SANFLW games

Glenelg premiership utility Madisyn Freeman is set to become the youngest player to reach 50 Hostplus SANFLW League games on Saturday.

Not celebrating her 21st birthday until October this year, Freeman will notch her memorable milestone when the Bays host Norwood at ACH Group Stadium on Saturday evening.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 20-year-old is refusing the contemplate that she could be the first player to reach the 100-game SANFLW barrier having reached the halfway point at such a young age.

Originally from Mount Gambier, Freeman began playing nine-a-side football in the State’s south-east before testing herself with SAWFL club Salisbury.

After making her SANFLW debut with Glenelg in 2018, the budding sports scientist has rarely missed a game since such is her durability and willingness to put the team’s needs ahead of her own.

“Whilst her stats don’t show she’s at the top end like some other players, she’s probably been the best team player in terms of playing her role,” Glenelg coach Jason Fairall told The Advertiser earlier this year.

With that sort of attitude, the Tigers’ No.2 is sure to come under the notice of AFLW scouts where she could realise her dream of reaching elite level.

And if it is with Collingwood, her Dad – a devout Magpies’ fan – will be even more delighted while watching his daughter against the nation’s best.
