PP&O Association

OUR VISION

The role of the PPO is to support the Glenelg Football Club to achieve success on the football field and to be financially viable.

More specifically, we aim to:

  1. Raise funds to contribute to the welfare and development of players, and
  2. Maintain and promote contact amongst the PPO group of the GFC.

WHAT WE DO

So far, we have connected over 500 past players and officials!

Fundraising revenue from the PPO has increased from approximately $6000 and $8000 in 2016 and 2017 respectively, to $15,500 in 2018, $38,000 in 2019, $21,750 in the Covid affected 2020 and $53,067.90 in 2021.

In 2022, the group raised a whopping $72,146!

Cash Lottery

For many years the Cash Lottery has been our major fundraiser which sells out every year and continues to grow. In 2020, we sold 172 tickets and raised $10,000. In 2021, we sold a record high 220 tickets and raised over $10,000. In 2022, we completely sold out at 250 tickets and raised over $20,000.

Drinks Van

In 2018, the PPO group accepted the challenge of running the drinks van on the scoreboard hill at home games. Over the last three years, this venture has gradually increased the number of people who utilize the van and consequently the amount of funds generated.

From 2021, we’re located at Umbrella Hill next to the grand stand! We were excited to host a number of reunions here at Home Games, including the:

  • 1971 U17 Premiership Team
  • 1981 Reserves Premiership Team
  • 1979 U19 Premiership Team

Drink Cans Recycling Initiative

In 2019, PPO started organised bins for recycling the cans at home games, with proceeds going to the Tiger Academy (U13s, U14s, U15s).

Past Players Award

In 2019, the PPO instigated a Home Game Award for the league team, with a monetary prize of 100 each home game and $1000 for the overall season. Matt Snook was the recipient in 2019 and again in 2020. Congratulations, Matt.

In 2021, the PPO extended this Home Game Award to the women’s team, with a monetary prize of $100 each home game and $500 for the overall season. Congratulations to Jess Bates who won this inaugural award.

In 2022, the PP&O became the official sponsor of the players trademark award across all five grades (League, Reserves, U18s, U16s and Women’s). This was a huge achievement for the group, who were able to provide weekly prizes to players on top of the major end-of-season award. Congratulations to major award winners Toby Pink (League), Beau McRae (Reserves) and Sarah Goodwin (Women).

Volunteer

The PPO also volunteers for the Club in many ways. In 2020, this included helping with preparation and postage of the SOLID GOLD Premiership Wine and Yearbook, and working in the Canteen during events such as the Sheffield Shield.

In 2021 and 2022, the PPO helped in similar ways, particularly with memberships, preparation of the Centenary Tawny, and running the Drinks Van at major events such as AFLW games and community football finals games at Glenelg Oval.
