VALE REX LEAHY
Glenelg Football Club is saddened by the recent passing of well-loved past player and manager Rex Leahy.
Player No. 380, Rex was one of those people who quickly comes to mind when you think of Glenelg Football Club. A talented all-round sportsman – he represented SA in tennis – Leahy “always filled in where he was needed, slotted in and gave his absolute best,” according to Hall of Famer Neil Davies.
Rex played 125 games and kicked 35 goals between 1952-62. Then after his playing career ended, he was on the management committee in the 1960s and past players and officials committee in the ’70s and ’80s, before becoming the team manager under Graham Campbell and Graham Cornes.
The club extends its sincere condolences to Rex’s family and friends.
