GFCW Coaching Update

The Glenelg Football Club wishes to advise some key changes to our Women’s program. Lexia Edwards, our Women’s Senior Coach, has chosen to step aside from the role advising the Club that the challenge of juggling senior coaching as well as full-time employment and family time as a new mum to Marlie and wife Lauren Arnell (current Port Adelaide AFLW Senior Coach), will be too much to manage. While disappointed, the Club fully supports Lexia’s decision and is very grateful for her contribution and the progression she has made with our women’s program.

Glenelg Football Club Women’s Football Operations Manager, Rod Jameson said, “Lex is an exceptional person and coach and has done an amazing job growing and developing our young group of women across the last two years.”

To provide stability for our women’s program, the Club has acted swiftly to secure Lexia’s replacement and is pleased to announce Talia Radan will be the new GFC Women’s Senior Coach for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Talia brings a wealth of knowledge as an AFLW and SANFLW past player, a 2017 Adelaide Crows premiership player, West Coast Eagles inaugural team member in 2020, and as a 2020 SANFLW North Adelaide premiership player. Talia has coaching experience in the SANFLW as an assistant coach with West Adelaide in 2022, an assistant coach with South Australia’s State U16’s National Championships team in 2024, and also as Senior Coach of the Glenunga Rams in the U18’s Division 1 competition from 2022. Talia is also currently an AFL Tribunal Panel Member, a role she has undertaken since 2023. Professionally, Talia is a qualified legal practitioner and is currently employed with the Australian Government, Department for Employment and Workplace Relations.

Glenelg Football Club Women’s Football Operations Manager, Rod Jameson said, “Talia is an incredibly passionate and professional person, as she has displayed during her playing tenure and the impressive career she has established away from football. Talia has a real drive to build strong connections with her players and everyone involved in our club, and her alignment with our values as a footy club.”

In accepting the role Talia said “I feel honoured to join the Glenelg Football Club – a club with values that strongly align with both my own values and coaching philosophy. My genuine thanks to the GFC and its Executive for this opportunity. The women’s program is in a strong position, and I am really looking forward to getting to work to continue our pursuit of success, and to develop strong relationships with all players, staff and admin.” 

Talia Radan will commence her role almost immediately and Lexia will continue on within our coaching group at GFC for the 2025 season.
