If an AFL club wants to select a player with exceptional work ethic, it should look no further than Glenelg’s Angus Clarke.
The latest guest on South Aussie Select, SANFL’s podcast on the road to the AFL Draft, Clarke made countless commutes between Mount Gambier and Adelaide while lining up for the Bays and SA’s U18 team at the National Championships.
Not only is Clarke well-versed on the nine-hour round trip to and from the capital of the state’s south-east, he also works tirelessly on the family farm, crutching sheep and milking cows while many of his counterparts are still fast asleep.
It has set the 188cm backman up nicely as he displayed great poise playing across half-back for the Croweaters before shrugging off injury to post the third-fastest time in the 2km time trial at the AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne.
Likening himself to fellow Glenelg junior and current Essendon star Mason Redman, also from the south-east, Clarke has spoken to multiple clubs including Adelaide and Port Adelaide.
