In a highly anticipated 2024 Grand Final rematch, we faced a strong and consistent South Adelaide side who have set the standard over the past few seasons. From the first bounce, South applied early pressure, moving the ball quickly into their forward line. However, our defenders stood tall, keeping their composure and backing each other to maintain strong positioning and repel attacks out of defence.

Through the midfield, our group was able to spread the ground effectively while maintaining control, shutting down South’s runners and creating opportunities to transition forward. The forwards capitalised on this hard work, bringing both aerial presence and ground-level intensity to lock the ball inside our forward 50 for long periods.

Kraft was outstanding in the ruck, giving us first use at stoppages and contests. Broome provided great impact inside the forward line, hitting the scoreboard with multiple goals. Freeman’s work rate around the ground was immense, finding dangerous positions and using the ball smartly to shift the momentum our way.

It was impossible to single out just a few players, as the depth of impact across the group was outstanding. The Robran sisters, Zacher, Eldridge, Hickey, Thomas, Weatherald, Johnson, Baker, Day, Hinge, Harris, Webb, Morriss, Bartholomaeus, O’Sullivan, Armitage, and our captain Wurfel all contributed strongly — blending experience, youth, and a real sense of belief to produce a powerful and balanced performance.

We are so proud of the entire squad — every player who contributed, whether on the field or through the work leading up to this match, helped set up this result. It was a true squad effort that reflects the strength and unity of our group.
