PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY CONCEPT DATA
I think I have mentioned in our weekly wraps before that you are always learning, some of my own learning is to actually enjoy the wins more, and it took me until I woke up on Monday morning for that to take place. The last quarter had left a little bit of frustration as the overriding emotion after the game, but, what is important is that we take away the 2 points against a very good team that has been playing at a high-level week after week.
While the game didn’t reach the level that I think both teams are capable of it was a willing contest from start to finish. We were certainly keen to keep being aggressive with our ball movement and look to challenge the opposition defence as much as possible. We are prepared to wear a few mistakes in doing that which we did see over the day, but our endeavour was pleasing, especially through the second and third quarters. As always, our game is a continual work in progress, like all we want to play really strong exciting football, but we are also aware we come up against opposition that are doing everything to stop that and then challenge us the other way. The beauty of the competition, and the challenge of the long season, is to ride the ups and downs, and the good with the frustrations.
Through all of that there was some positive out of the day. Our last quarter wasn’t great and we allowed WWT momentum for a large part while missing some strong scoring opportunities of our own. Pleasingly though our group were really mature in the last six or seven minutes, closing the game down well and finding a way to get away with a win. There will be other games through the year that we need to do this, and it was good to see our group work through that part.
In a really early game on Sunday morning, our Reserves group played some outstanding team football over the entire game to come away with a convincing win against the previous undefeated ladder leaders. Our pressure and desire to get and out number at contest before moving the ball with real efficiency was impressive. We had a sense that the group would do this after training at a really high intensity on Thursday. It provides the group with great confidence, and we continue to see some high-quality performances from a number of players across the group.
Sunday also allowed us to celebrate Mother’s Day in style, it was great to have all of the mums in the rooms after the game as well as a few in to take control of the team meeting earlier in the day. Well done to all involved, also great to see a solid crowd in on a Sunday afternoon.
We head into a state game bye weekend, good luck to all that are representing the State at both senior level and the Under 20 level also. Great reward for consistent form.
We return the following weekend against West Adelaide; we look forward to seeing all of the Bays supporters there to support.
