Glenelg Football Club is proud to host West Adelaide this Saturday in a First Nations Round triple-header.
In a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the long line of First Nations talent that has elevated—and continues to elevate—our great game across all leagues, First Nations Round will honour and commemorate our First Nations communities.
Our men’s and women’s teams will again don our Indigenous guernsey, designed by Amanda Turner in 2022. Amanda, grandmother of Glenelg past player Gibson Turner, hails from a small community called Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa), around 85km south east of Alice Springs. The design, which was created over the span of a week, defines:
Anwerne apurte irreme – we are all coming together.
The design represents the Glenelg community – our players, training groups, the Club and broader community, and our strength in “coming together”.
