Reeva’s Match Wrap | Round 7

PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY CONCEPT DATA

I mentioned after our last game about making sure we enjoy our wins considering what it takes each week for everyone to get the result. We had the opportunity to really enjoy our win over West Adelaide in Round 7, the enjoyment comes from the way we went about the game in all aspects but especially our offence and what that created for us over the entire 120 minutes. I’m sure the solid crowd in attendance would agree that we played some exciting football over the day.

After a bye week and some time away from the club for the majority of the group, we came back at the start of the week with a couple of clear focuses on areas of growth. We loved how energised the group was through the week and the training intensity and quality was very good. Pleasingly that translated into the game with our energy around contest as a start point, the game felt like how we as a coaching group imagine it should look in terms of method. Not going to be perfect, we will make some mistakes and the opposition will challenge us in different ways at times but if we have our defensive structure and desire in a good place our ability to move the ball and create scoring opportunities generally follow and as the game went on over the day on Saturday that was really pleasing to see. While it is a long season and there will be other ups and downs, we certainly like the fact we can play and win in a few different ways, but Saturday show cased how we want the game to look more often, and we will continue to work hard on improving our consistency in that space.

Like the League team our Reserves group was able to show case some of the similar traits, with strong team defence allowing us to get the ball in flow in offence and create scoring opportunities. There is no doubt at times we feel like our Reserves group are able to set the ground up and have the game looking how we want it to as well as our League group is able to do it. Credit to the young group who continue to train and prepare at a high standard and then produce at a consistent level week after week. Great to watch them go about their work.

We head into our Round 8 contest against South Adelaide down at Noarlunga this coming Saturday. This will be another triple header with our Reserves group starting early before our Women’s Team and into the League game. Our focus is to continue to improve our game and South present another strong challenge having been playing some really strong football over the first part of the season. We look forward to the challenge and hope to see as many Bays supporters as possible there to support
