Reeva’s Match Wrap | Round 8

PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY CONCEPT DATA

Round 8 had us heading down the road to Noarlunga and a clash with South Adelaide in what can be a challenging assignment. It was important that we continued on with some promising form that we produced the previous week. Pleasingly our group came with great intent, and we were able to have the game on our terms from pretty early on in the contest.

After a week that both clubs had been hit hard by the AFL mid-season draft, it was important to get control of the game around the midfield. We were really pleased with how the game looked in that part of the game and it allowed us to apply some good score board pressure early in the game. Momentum shifted a little through the mid part of the first quarter through us dropping off a little and South lifting, allowing them to control the ball and see some scoring opportunities of their own. This was a really big focus for us at the first break and to the groups credit we were able to play some really strong football for the next 3 quarters. Defensively we were very strong across the ground and most pleasing again like last week was our ball movement and the opportunities created from that. A really solid result and continues to build confidence in our game.

In what was a scrappy game after a really bright start our Reserves group were able to hold on for a good win in a top of the table clash. With some injury and some opportunities opened up in our League team an even younger group took the field and credit to them when the game got really tight late in their ability to find a way to win the game. Great learning and also some confidence taken out of it as they move on to another challenge this weekend.

This weekend promises to be a huge one for our club. We will see the 85/86 Premierships teams here for a reunion, we have a number of milestone games with James Bell playing his 50th game, Luke Partington playing his 100th game and of course Max Proud his 200th game. Should be a fantastic day on a long weekend, we look forward to seeing a huge Bay’s crowd in attendance to enjoy what will be a great game of football. Our focus will be to celebrate all of this by making sure we play our best football over four quarters and continuing on in our winning form.
