2023 Leadership Group

Max Proud will head into his second season as Glenelg Football Club Captain.

Following a huge year, securing Glenelg’s Best and Fairest award, Premiership-player Max Proud will don the number 5 for a second year as Captain for season 2023.

“It is an honour to captain this great club, alongside an invested group of leaders who have so much to offer on and off the field.” Max said.

Senior Coach, Darren Reeves, is excited with the selection, “In Max Proud we are fortunate to have an exceptional leader in all areas: from his ability, first and foremost, to set the example in how to prepare himself and strive to improve everyday, the way he drives standards, as well as his ability to connect with and understand everyone around him.”

Proud will be joined alongside Vice Captain Liam McBean in guiding our senior men through the competition ahead.

The pair will be supported by a powerhouse of veteran leaders in Luke Partington, Matt Allen, Billy Stretch, as well as Luke Reynolds and Darcy Bailey.

“I am really excited by the quality of people we have in all our 7 leaders, as well their ability to lead our club and playing group.

Max is well supported by Liam McBean who has all the same attributes and qualities that Max has and they are an outstanding Captain and Vice-captain combination.

The remainder of leadership group all bring different attributes that come together to gel an exciting team and I look forward to working closely with them in 2023.” Reeves said about the group of Tigers.

Max Proud told the club: “We (the playing group) are looking forward to empowering the playing group to get better with every session, to continue to improve our culture and our brand.”

“We can’t wait for season 2023 to start and get back in front of the Bay faithful.”

The Hostplus SANFL season kicks off on April 2nd against Sturt at Wigan Oval. You can catch the boys in action beforehand in our remaining two trial games of the year.
