A 30-player SA U16 squad has been released ahead of the AFL National Championships starting in June.
To be coached by SANFL Coach and Player Developer Heath Younie, the Croweaters have included four bottom-age players in the line-up to compete in Division 1.
South Australia will host Western Australia at Thebarton Oval on Saturday June 22 before heading to Queensland for clashes against Victoria Metro at People First Stadium on Tuesday July 9 and Victoria Country at Fankhauser Reserve on Friday July 12.
Central’s Dougie Cochrane, the son of former Port Adelaide and North Melbourne midfielder Stuart Cochrane is a familiar name in the squad while two bottom-agers from 2023 – South Adelaide pair Cain Florance and Kodah Edwards – have also been included.
Championship-winning SA U16 coach Julian Farkas will return as one of Younie’s assistant mentors, together with Brett Hudson and Chris Slattery while former Central District midfielder Brendan Dew will be the team’s runner.
Training will begin on Tuesday May 28 at Thebarton Oval with trial matches scheduled for Wednesday June 5 and Friday June 14 at Thebarton Oval.
