The Glenelg Football Club is pleased to announce its 2024 GFCW Leadership Group, with Sam Franson at the helm in #5.
Franson will be supported by Co-Vice Captains, Ellen Tyminski and Alice Bradley. Lauren Edwards will also be alongside the girls as a part of the leadership group.
Renee Wurfel, Alex Walker and Violet Patterson will act as a support to the main leadership group, being voted in by their peers as emerging leaders for season 2024.
Head coach Lexia Edwards is confident in Franson’s appointment, referencing her can-do attitude and strong relationships within the group: “We know Sam will bring her own, new style of leadership to the playing group which reflects her time and growth as a player, person and leader at Glenelg over the years. She invigorates the group with her unmatched energy and wholeheartedly supports every player on the squad. She knows what it takes to win premierships, connect the playing group and work towards a common goal while playing with passion and pride wearing the yellow and black.”
Sam is excited to work alongside the elected leadership group, saying “It’s an honour just to be a part of this club but to be the Captain of such a special group of girls is incredible. Alongside our new group of leaders and our whole playing group, we are set for an exciting year ahead and I’m keen to bring the best out of the girls!”
The SANFLW season kicks off Saturday, March 2 against North Adelaide at Thebarton Oval with the Development squad at 4:30pm, and League at 6:30pm.
