Jess Bates etched her name into Glenelg Football Club history on Friday night, becoming the club’s first-ever four-time Club Champion at the 2025 Club Champion Awards Night.
In a season marked by consistency and leadership, Bates was also awarded the 2025 Cass Hartley Best Team Player, as nominated by her teammates, in recognition of her dominant gameplay and selfless approach.
Asha Dufour impressed in her debut season at the Bays, finishing runner-up in the Club Champion count – marking her as one to watch in the black and gold come season 2026.
In a landmark year for the Development League, Glenelg secured its inaugural Development League Premiership under coach Brooke Trevena-Chaplin. Individual honours were celebrated, with Millie Clarke taking home the 2025 Development League Stripes Award and Mel Hinge named the 2025 Development League Best Player.
The club also celebrated the rise of several promising newcomers in the senior squad. Kaitey Whittaker capped off an impressive first season by winning the 2025 Stripes Award and claiming the Leading Goal Kicker title with 14 goals. Fellow debutant Tessa Davis was recognised as the 2025 Best Defensive Player for her strong performances throughout the year.
The evening concluded with a tribute to four 2021 SANFLW Premiership players, who were farewelled and honoured for their outstanding contributions to the Bays. Their parting messages to the Glenelg Football Club community will be shared across the club’s social media channels in the coming week.
The Glenelg Football Club congratulates all 2025 award recipients and extends its sincere thanks to those moving on from the Bays, acknowledging their impact on and off the field.
