Glenelg Football Club is thrilled to sign 2019 premiership player, Will Gould, for season 2024.
The hard-running key defender returns after a four year stint with the Sydney Swans, selected with pick 26 in the 2019 AFL Draft after playing a crucial role in the Tigers’ drought-breaking premiership. During his time, he played four AFL games and showed strong form in the Swans VFL team, named the VFL’s Player of the Year in 2022.
After being delisted at the end of season 2023, the 22-year-old sought the opportunity to once again don the black and gold, stating to SEN SA that, if not picked up by another AFL club, he would ‘certainly be back in the SANFL’ and that he’s ‘settled back in Adelaide and not looking to move anywhere else’.
“I’m absolutely stoked to be back at the Bay. I can’t wait to get back amongst the group post Christmas, and try to back up what was an amazing year for the club!” he said.
Originally from Lucindale, Gould developed through the Tigers’ junior ranks before making his debut at 18-years-old in 2019. The 191-cm defender played 15 League games while also captaining the South Australian Under 18 team, with his performance earning him an U18 All Australian selection.
