Chris Curran to return in 2024

Beloved 2019 premiership captain, Chris Curran, is returning to the Bay in season 2024.

The key defender retired at the end of season 2021 due to work and personal commitments, but is now ready to give SANFL another crack.

“It’s exciting to be back down the Bay. Above all it fits in with family and work priorities. I’ve still got the competitive drive to strive for another premiership here, and this group of players and coaches will provide a great opportunity to continue my development in the football space,” he said.

Originally hailing from Horsham, Curran first made his move to the Bay in 2010, playing in the Reserves as a forward before making his League debut in 2011. In 2018 he took over captaincy from Andrew Bradley, before becoming one of only five men in Glenelg history to lead a team to a premiership, breaking a 33-year drought in 2019.

In 2019 and 2021, Chris represented South Australia in clashes against Western Australia and was named Captain in the Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year. He also placed runner-up Best and Fairest in 2018 and 4th in 2019.
