Sturt are always a huge challenge, no matter when or where we play them.
We were desperate for the win, but we had to focus in on how we wanted to play, rather than looking for the outcome.
We started really well and probably should’ve had a bigger lead, except for a couple of bizarre advantage calls by the umpires which cost us goals.
Sturt came back hard in the second half, but for the first time this year, I was pleased with our effort under pressure and our style of play when we didn’t hold the momentum.
The second half was an arm wrestle and it was pleasing to play right to the end and finish strongly.
I believe Sturt are better than their win-loss record and, like us, are trying to blend a new squad together.
Next week Centrals at Elizabeth should be another tough one.
