Fearless defending duo Chris Curran and Max Proud will share the role of captaincy for the 2021 Statewide Super League season.
2019 Premiership Captain Curran returns to the role after intending to take a year off from footy in 2020 to further his career in medicine in the Riverland – although this was cut short due to the coronavirus.
Proud was elevated to club captain in 2020 and guided the team through the lockdowns, restricted trainings and shortened season with great resilience and determination.
Newly signed Senior Coach Brett Hand is extremely confident in the capabilities of both players to guide the team to success in the club’s 100th year.
“It’s great to have Chris back at the club full time. He and Max have worked so well together over the preseason and bounce off of each other, so it was an easy decision to go with Dual Captains,” he said.
“Both Chris and Max are proud to represent the club and both lead from the front and will take this club forward.”
Joining the duo is Luke Partington and Andrew Bradley, who were both an integral part of the 2020 leaders. Two-time Ken Farmer Medallist Liam McBean has also been elevated into the leadership group for the first time.
“Luke Partington has stepped up over the preseason and is well respected by the playing group. He works hard at his own game, as well as with the younger players to help make them better. Luke is keen to develop himself as a leader and will continue to work on his game and his leadership,” Brett said.
“Andrew Bradley provides an experienced point of view and adds a good balance to the group of five.
“Liam McBean is a welcome addition to the leadership group and his peers were keen to have him a part of the group.”
