The finals campaign continues for Glenelg Football Club, with both our Reserves and League teams heading into the next round of matches. Here’s all you need to know about our crucial clashes.
Reserves Semi Final 1: Glenelg vs. Woodville-West Torrens at Stratarama Stadium – 11am
Our reserves will return home to Stratarama Stadium on Saturday to take on the Eagles in the first Semi Final. After a hard-fought match, the Tigers fell to Sturt 101 to 40 in last week’s Qualifying Final, losing out on the chance to face Norwood for an automatic spot in the Grand Final.
Despite the heavy defeat, the reserves are hungry and determined to get back to their winning ways and take down the Eagles in what looks to be a fantastic contest. Come down and support the reserves as they look to book a spot in the Preliminary Final and continue their path to a second premiership in as many years.
League Semi Final 1: Glenelg vs. Sturt at Adelaide Oval – 12:15pm
On Sunday our league side returns to finals action, when Glenelg will face rivals Sturt in a colossal Semi Final clash at Adelaide Oval.
The Tigers are flying high after a resounding win over the Eagles in last Sunday’s Elimination Final win, cruising to victory with a 71-point winning margin. An astounding 4 quarter performance saw our league side advance to the First Semi Final and continue their Premiership Defence.
Sunday’s clash will see us pitted against Sturt in yet another Finals meeting. The Double Blues are reeling after narrowly losing to Centrals and squandering a chance to play for a spot in the Grand Final. No doubt will Sturt use their upset loss as motivation to take down the Tigers and avoid a straight-sets exit. Our league side is also looking to avoid a premature finals exit and is more than up for the fight.
Looking to make his long-awaited return to the league side is Lachie Hosie, who has been named on the extended bench. After suffering a knee injury way back in round 7, the key forward has been hard at work recovering and giving himself the best chance to return this season. Provided he can get through the final two training sessions unscathed, Hosie will no doubt invigorate the Tigers and provide our potent forward line with some extra star power.
