BY PETER CORNWALL
The highly anticipated Glenelg Football Club Centenary Book, ‘Ton of Tigers’, is now available for pre-order.
Ton Of Tigers is a 750-page coffee table book packed with 256 stories and more than 2000 photos, many never previously published, from a century of football at the Bay.
By club historian Peter Cornwall, the author of Pride Of The Bay, it features tales written by 20 South Australian storytellers, including writers well known to everyone at the Bay – Andrew Capel, Michael Sexton, Zac Milbank and Georgia Musolino. The foreword is by club legend and current president Peter Carey.
There’s a story on each of the 51 Glenelg FC Hall of Fame inductees, and there’s also yarns on players who have played only a handful of games but have achieved greatness off the field and have incredible stories to tell.
We look at the huge positive impact women’s footy has had at Glenelg and the club’s premierships, near misses, medallists, goalkickers, controversies, characters and off-field dynamos, certain to bring the memories rushing back for Tigers fans.
And there’s a chapter on the fans, featuring more than 10 pages of photos of Tigers supporters at games, with their favourite players or in their black-and-gold clobber.
It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime book and a priceless piece of Glenelg history which belongs in the home of every Tiger faithful.
Pre-orders will be available for collection/delivery from early December.
