PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY CONCEPT DATA
Round 9 provided a great opportunity, on a long weekend, to celebrate some of past champions as well as some emerging, if not current champions of our football club. While the weather wasn’t pleasant and possibly kept a few more people away, a really strong crowd under these circumstances turned up and pleasingly our group delivered a really strong brand of football over the 4 quarters to record and outstanding win against North Adelaide.
With plenty going on during the week it was great to get to the start of the game and set about what was still the most important thing, playing well and making sure we got the 2 points and through to the mid-season bye in a really strong position in the competition. Right from the outset it was clear our group was locked in and our first quarter set the game up. There has been a real focus as I have mentioned the last few weeks around how we are moving the ball and it is great to see the reward from that work take shape on game day. Some of our transition and flow in our offence was as good as it has been for a while and in some times tricky conditions that was a strong confidence boost into the next part of the season. Equally we were really pleased with how we were able to maintain relentless pressure and scramble really well defensively over the entire game. Being able to play at a high level over long periods over the last month is a great sign for our group.
Our Reserves were able to record another strong win to stay clear on top of the table at the halfway mark of the season. With some injuries mounting up across our group it continues to be a young inexperienced group, but they are able to play above there years and find ways to win games of footy when they are challenged and not having everything on their terms. Credit to the group and it isn’t by chance as they have been really consistent with how they are training and preparing each week.
It was certainly a great day at the club that continued well into the evening, it was great to see our 85/85 Premiership players back at the club and to have them down in the rooms pregame with our players was fantastic, and really did set the tone for the day. Well done to our milestone players also, Max Proud 200 games, Luke Partington 100 games and James Bell 50 games, It was great to celebrate these guys in the manner that we did.
We head into a mid-season bye this week and an opportunity to refresh mentally and physically for all. We look forward to seeing a huge crowd on Sunday week when we take on Sturt football club in what will be an outstanding game of football. What I can guarantee is our playing group will be ready to go for this one!!
