Round 18 Hostplus SANFL League fixture locked in

By ZAC MILBANK

An exciting finale to the 2023 Hostplus SANFL League minor round awaits, with all five Round 18 matches set to be played at 2.10pm on Saturday August 26.

With the AFL’s Round 24 fixture for the same weekend now confirmed, SANFL will provide all teams with an even break before the finals series begins on Sunday September 3 at Adelaide Oval.

Final five contenders Central District and Port Adelaide will square off at X Convenience Oval in a contest which could decide which team plays in major round, with the Multicultural Match also to be a significant celebration of SANFL’s past and present multicultural players.

North Adelaide may also need a victory against premiership contender Sturt at Prospect Oval to secure a place in September, with the Roosters currently sitting just outside the top five with three matches to play.

Double Blues goalsneak Josh Hone will have his last opportunity to potentially pip Glenelg pair Lachie Hosie and Liam McBean for the Ken Farmer Medal, with the Tigers star duo set to tackle South Adelaide at Stratarama Stadium.

Top-three bound Adelaide could be pushing for the minor premiership in its last home-and-away fixture against Norwood at The Parade while retiring dual premiership coach Jade Sheedy will bid farewell to Eagles fans at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval with his last game in charge against West Adelaide.
