Triple Milestone, Triple Header: A Massive King’s Birthday Weekend at the Bay

Bays fans are in for a blockbuster Sunday as Glenelg Football Club prepares for a mammoth celebration at Stratarama Stadium, with a triple-milestone, triple-header, back-to-back premiership spectacular this King’s Birthday long weekend.

Darren Reeves and the boys will lead the charge in a jam-packed day of SANFL action, with the festivities kicking off at 11:30am when the Reserves face off against North Adelaide in a top-of-the-table clash. Both teams currently sit equal with six wins apiece, setting the stage for a fiery contest.

But that’s just the beginning.

The League squad will take centre stage next, against the Roosters for the prestigious John Sandland Memorial Cup. This match will carry even more significance, commemorating three huge milestones for some of our greatest talent:

  • 200 games for Glenelg’s premiership captain Max Proud,

  • 100 SANFL games for dynamic midfielder and premiership player Luke Partington, and

  • 50 Glenelg games for explosive premiership talent James Bell.

Capping off the day will be a fierce SANFLW clash as the Bays women also take on North Adelaide.

Adding to the celebrations, Glenelg will be celebrating the 1985 and 1986 back-to-back premierships, with over 30 club legends  expected to be in attendance. Club great Peter Carey has spearheaded the reunion, rallying his former teammates to return to the Bay for what is shaping up to be an unforgettable homecoming.

If you can’t make it to any of the games this Sunday, be sure to stream all the Bays action from 11:30am on SANFL Now.
