Tamsyn always a Tiger at heart

By ZAC MILBANK

Tamsyn Morriss didn’t waste any time building her affinity for the Glenelg Football Club.

Set to play her 50th Hostplus SANFLW League match for the Tigers on Saturday, Morriss vividly remembers playing at Stratarama Stadium in Glenelg’s U14 squad back in 2015.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 22-year-old recalled using the old changerooms under the now demolished H.Y Sparks Grandstand before running out to represent the Bays for the first time.

Nearly nine years later, Morriss will reach her memorable milestone against Sturt in Round 2 at Thebarton Oval from 9am.

Making her SANFLW League debut as a 15-year-old in 2018, she didn’t envisage reaching this point after lining up alongside her current coach, Lexi Edwards.

But the reliable defender quickly established herself as a consistent member of the Bays’ team before featuring in the club’s historic 2021 premiership.

Donning the cherished red SA state guernsey has also been a highlight for Morriss, who lined up with the Croweaters at the AFL U18 & U19 National Championships in 2019 and 2021.

Now the apprentice painter and decorator has her sights set on creating more success with the black and gold, as they seek to return to the major round in 2024.
