Tigers endure a tough outing at Noarlunga

After a disappointing show against the Crows, we were looking forward to a better showing against South over the hill at Noarlunga. Unfortunately, it was tough to swallow a performance that was riddled with errors and turnovers contributing to South’s scoring.

It was exciting to welcome Angus Cole to the League ranks on the back of some solid performances in the Reserves. It was time to reward him for this. It was always going to be a tough ask against Brooksby, and even though we were beaten in hit outs, we were able to even up the clearance numbers. However, we were unable to get some clean movement into our forward line and we made too many fundamental errors going forward.

From the 10 minute mark of the second quarter, I felt like we had the ball in our front half and we were on top of our areas. But we were our own worst enemy when capitalising on our chances, which made the task at half time a difficult one.

The third quarter was a closer one in terms of the stats, but we fumbled and were unable to make the most of our tackle pressure and create opportunities when we turned the ball over. Cooper Horsnell, Max Proud and Luke Partington were trying their best to create chances but we were lacking support in numbers from the rest of the group.

The last quarter was similar to the third where I thought our pressure was good but we were just unable to create chances ahead of the ball. Credit to South who were very good in the contest and with their pressure.

It certainly was disappointing to play two poor games in a row and it’s something we have reviewed strongly. We look forward to the challenge that the Eagles will present this Saturday at ACH Group Stadium.

Looking forward to seeing a big crowd this weekend.
