Two Tigers to join Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW squad

Tigers Sarah Goodwin and Ella Boag have been selected by Port Adelaide in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft.

The two juniors are amongst the next wave of superstars to showcase their talents at the highest level, joining Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW squad ahead of an expanded competition in 2023.

At just 17 years old, Sarah Goodwin boasts a wealth of accolades, including all-Australian team selection, an undefeated streak with South Australia at the under-18 national championships, selection in The Advertiser’s SANFLW team of the year, and, famously, the club’s first SANFLW premiership in 2021.

Selected in the Top 10 AFLW Draft picks at Pick 7, Sarah is a weapon in defence and through the midfield who became a vital ball-winner across her 10 GFC matches in 2022.

Selected with Pick 31, 17 year old Ella Boag burst onto the SANFLW scene this year, debuting for the Tigers in Round 4 against the Eagles and quickly locking in her position in the league side as a speedy winger.

A particularly impressive performance in Round 12 earned her a SANFLW Breakthrough Player nomination, while her undeniable improvement over the past 12 months also saw her feature in this year’s under-18 national championships.

The Club is incredibly proud of the girls achievements and wishes them all the best in the next stage of their football careers.
