VALE MARY HARDY

Glenelg Football Club is in mourning after long-time, much-loved volunteer and life member Mary Hardy passed away on Friday, October 20. She was 89.

A great character who was renowned for her persistence in selling raffle tickets, Mary was one of the Tigers’ most important fundraisers in an era when this was a crucial supply of the club’s income. She won a merit award way back in 1980 and was honoured with life membership in 1985. Mary continued to raise money for more than three decades after this.

Her late husband Ian Hardy also was a life member, someone who was a long-time member of the management committee and vice-president who was instrumental in establishing bingo at the club.

Mary Hardy’s funeral will be held later on Monday, October 30 from 12:30pm at The Florey, Centennial Park with a wake to be held back at the Club from 2:30pm.
