Club Volunteer Gordon Anderson was kind enough to take photos of all the pickets, they images are available to view via our Facebook or Flickr pages.
They make the ultimate gift, so why not purchase one for a family member this Christmas.
We wish to thank all of those that have supported the club by purchasing a picket, or 4 some instances!
We are pleased to announce that James Sellar is returning to the Bay! Click the link below for interview, plus a write-up on him and two recruits from Sturt who have signed - Harley Montgomery and Ziggy Vitkunas.
Comments from Matthew Lokan on our latest recruits:
It is great to have James return to our Football Club. With experience at both AFL, WAFL and SANFL James will certainly add some experience to our playing group. James has been mostly used as a key back the last few years but will also add some support to Warrick McGinty, Jed Redden and Lachlan Button in the ruck department. James is a fantastic person and it’s always nice to have Glenelg juniors return to our Football Club.
Ziggy comes to Glenelg after a very good year at Mount Compass. Ziggy is a very exciting forward who has the ability to out run his opponents but also fly high above packs to mark the ball. His training up to date has been outstanding and I am very excited about what Ziggy offers us for the 2016 season.
Harley, along with Ziggy have both played League football previously at Sturt. A promising State Under 18 junior, Harley has been struck down with injuries and is looking for a fresh start at Glenelg. Harley has fantastic foot skills and other key attributes are his speed and agility.
Along with our other recruits we welcome them all to Glenelg and look forward to an exciting 2016
A massive congratulations to our 3 latest AFL Draftees.
At last night’s AFL Draft held at the Adelaide Convention Centre Mason Redman was selected at pick 30 by Essendon, Bailey Williams at pick 48 by the Western Bulldogs and Matt Allen is off to the West Coast via pick 62.
Bailey has come on to the scene late in relation to the draft but has had an outstanding year with our Under 18’s as well as playing Reserves football. His break out performance was against the eagles when he amassed 56 possessions in a losing team. He is a local product coming from Brighton District Old Scholars and through our Development Squads being the second player form our Under 13 Pathway Cup program to be drafted.
Mason has been rewarded for a fantastic season having relocated from Millicent in our SE zone to further his football and also complete year 12 studies. His progress as a player going from Under 18’s to Reserves and League level along with his very successful State Under 18 performances has been a real credit to his ability and work ethic.
Matt has had limited involvement with our football club due to his commitments at St Peters College, but his ability to play has been evident right through outstanding performances in the Under 16’s and Under 18’s. He was able to play 3 Reserves matches as well including 2 finals this season. Both Matt and Mason have come through our SE Academy program.
